Welcome to Fit Mommy Bear Struggles! My name is Diana. I am a busy mom who has a love/hate relationship with being healthy my whole life. For the past 6+ years, I have struggled even more with this relationship as I reached my highest weight while my husband has been out of country and out of state for military service. I grew sick and tired in waiting for the right time to prioritize myself and getting healthy.

The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for me. While everything closed down, I was forced to cancel that gym membership that I never used. I no longer had to worry about if I valued my sleep more or getting to the gym by 5 am so that I could get a workout in, shower, have the kids ready for school, and be on my way to work by 7 am. I was a mess!

I haven’t always been a mess. When I joined the Army at age 20 back in 2008 (stop trying to do the math!), I was in my prime! I quickly moved from being in my prime and had two back-to-back pregnancies. I felt like my body would never recover.

Back in the Army, 2008 – where I met my husband

The pandemic helped me find a piece of the puzzle that I had been missing: my self-worth. Being forced to be at home all the time with my kids, working a full-time job, going to school full-time, supporting my kids with virtual learning, and starting a business, I scrambled with doing it all. But this new-found focus and drive helped me thrive in my bubble at home. I began to value my time for exercising and put emphasis on my self-care. I finally took the time to do an elimination diet to learn that I have food allergies and sensitivities. I’m human. I am still navigating my health (these dietary changes are still very new), but I am figuring out what works for me. I have learned so much through my decades long journey as I have struggled with this my whole life. Even food was a struggle.
