Being Successful in Small Spaces
Not everyone has a full-sized fridge or a lot of counter space. You may not have a lot of space for a home gym either. But guess what! You can still be successful in your journey! For the past five years, my husband has been staying in Army barracks with small kitchenettes and is now in a small apartment. Here is his advice for those living in tight spaces.
Meal Prepping
Cooking for one person is much different when you are cooking for a family. You may have a large kitchen or a small kitchen. You can still meal prep based on what resources you have available to you.
- Focus on easy. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by the required ingredients. Spices can add up and can take up a lot of space.
- Use the equipment you have. Search for recipes based on the equipment that you already have.
- Less dishes. Prepare recipes that require less dishes for the preparation. It will save you on how many dishes you’ll have to wash, as well as save you on counter space during your prep time.
Workouts
Being in the Army, Lee has had to maintain a certain level of physical fitness. He uses established trainers and seeks programs that won’t cost him anything. Keep in mind, some programs are worth the investment. Choose what works for your goals and budget. Do workouts that will keep you engaged. If it’s fun, you are more likely to come back to it.
Small Spaces
Even in small spaces, you can be successful. You may need to make accommodations but you are resourceful. You can do this! And if you have done this, what worked for you?
