Accountability to Myself
Welcome to Fit Mommy Bear Struggles. Here, you will read about my personal struggles, laugh with me, and hopefully relate to journey to being a healthier me. My goal is that I will hold myself accountable to you, my reader. Ironically, it took me over a month to finally sit down to finally put my words on “paper”. So bear with me as I talk about accountability and myself struggling through this myself.
Like in other households, COVID-19 has wrecked havoc in my house as well. The one thing that I did right was getting myself into my “gym” (my garage) to regularly exercise. I completed all 80 days of 80 Day Obsession. I didn’t want to let myself down and miss a day. I even started running with my oldest as he was working on his physical fitness merit badge for scouts. We completed a couch to 5k program and I HATE running. Let me tell you, I rocked it!
Then August hit. I traveled to Iowa to surprise my dad for his 60th birthday. I flew to Texas to see my husband. I helped a friend move to Vegas. It’s finally September and I fly back to Iowa to pick up my children while back for my brother’s wedding. Just how many times have I worked out in the month of August? Um, maybe once? I bought a yoga mat while visiting my husband to have there for future visits. Does that count? I have totally derailed myself and all that progress I have made. I had to do some internal digging to figure out what happened to my motivation. Surely, it wasn’t just because I was traveling.
I was missing accountability. I was no longer holding myself accountable. I didn’t have an accountability partner. Having an accountability partner is crucial to my success. Catherine Pulsifer said, “At the end of the day, we are accountable to ourselves – our success is a result of what we do.” From here on out, YOU are my accountability partner. I commit to sharing my progress, my struggles, and details about what is working and what is not working for me. Feel free to share with me about how you are doing. What are your goals? What is your reason for working out? You need to figure out what your WHY is. For me, I need to get my health back in check. I want to improve my numbers but more importantly, I just want to feel better. That is a story for another post. 🙂
